What causes female infertility? What should be avoided to reduce the risk of infertility?

Female infertility is due to ovulation problems. Typically, women notice an irregular or absent menstrual period, which can be a sign of abnormal ovulation. Ovulation problems can result from a variety of causes, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fallopian tube obstruction due to pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis, uterine fibroids, or problems with the uterus. To reduce the risk of infertility, women should avoid the following:

  • Smoking
  • Medications
  • Alcohol
  • Stress
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Overweight or underweight

If my IVF treatment is unsuccessful, how long do I have to wait before trying again?

It is recommended to wait approximately one month, about the length of time of a normal menstrual cycle. This allows your ovaries to resume normal activity before stimulating again. If you have frozen the remaining embryos from a previous cycle, you can continue with the next treatment cycle without interruption.

How long is it prudent to consider seeking fertility treatment?

Healthy women under 35 should try to conceive for 1 year or more before seeking help from a fertility specialist. Women over 35 should try to conceive for 6 months before seeking help from a doctor. It is important to consult your doctor if you have any of the following health problems, which may increase your risk of infertility:

  • Irregular, absent, or painful periods.
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Endometriosis
  • History of miscarriage(s)
  • Hormonal imbalance

Do I have to make any lifestyle changes after undergoing fertility treatment?

Since the procedures are virtually painless, recovery time will be very quick. Although we recommend that you rest for the rest of the day after an embryo transfer procedure, you can resume your normal activities the next day. Since the goal of the transfer is pregnancy, it is recommended that you avoid hot tubs and strenuous activities. Sexual intercourse should not be affected.

If I have frozen embryos at Mexico Fertility Center, could they be transferred to another clinic at some point?

Of course. It is common practice to transfer embryos from clinics around the world to meet the needs of our patients. We have established a strict set of guidelines to ensure that your embryos remain safe during transport.

How long can embryos be safely frozen?

Embryos can be safely stored for up to 10+ years using embryo vitrification, or embryo cryopreservation.

Are fertility procedures painful?

The embryo transfer procedure is similar to a Pap test and patients usually report minimal or no discomfort. During the egg retrieval process, patients are sedated with general anesthesia, so they do not experience any pain.

What is the average success rate of a fertility treatment?

At Mexico Fertility Center, we are very proud of our high success rates. The key to this
success is our varied and extensive experience in the fertility field. Success rates
depend on numerous factors and can vary depending on different treatment options.
Some of these factors include:

  • Women’s age
  • Quality and quantity of retrieved eggs.
  • Sperm quality
  • Cause and duration of infertility

What causes male infertility, and is there a way to prevent it?

Male infertility is often caused by varicocele, which occurs when the veins in a man’s
testicles enlarge. This causes them to become warm and hot, which can affect the
number or shape of sperm. While infertility is difficult to prevent, a man’s sperm is
directly affected by his health and lifestyle choices. To help maintain healthy sperm,
men should avoid the following:

  • Smoking
  • Medication
  • Alcohol
  • Enviromental toxins
  • Radiation or chemotherapy
  • Anabolic steroids

How much does a fertility treatment cost?

The price will vary depending on the type of fertility treatment you need. Typically, couples who have fertility treatment services at Mexico Fertility Center save 30 to 70% more than the standard prices in the United States, which average at $12,400. That is why every year, more and more Americans and Canadians are traveling to Mexico Fertility Center to receive world-class fertility treatment at very affordable prices.
